THE HISTORY OF HAR-MAN IMPORTING CORP.
For nearly 60 years, HAR-MAN has been one of the largest and most successful
importers and distributors of Beads, Rhinestones and Trimmings to many industries including Design,
Apparel & Jewelry Manufacturing, Jewelry and Crafts (including Swarovski, Preciosa and Czech Glass).
HAR-MAN has been a leader in its field since it was founded in 1948 by my
grandfather Julius Mandel. It was that year that he first traveled to Europe to visit
family and friends. Prior to leaving the United States, a manufacturer friend asked
him to try to locate some beads or rhinestones for use on his line of evening gowns.
Since both those items were manufactured in Czechoslovakia prior to World War II
and since neither was made during the war, there was of course a shortage of any
such product in the USA.
Mr. Mandel’s reaction was “What are beads and rhinestones????”
Since then, HAR-MAN has come a long way….Now housed in a modern 15,000 square
foot facility in Farmingdale, New York, HAR-MAN has one of the largest selections of
beads and stones in the world. In 2004, we opened “The Creative Design Centre”,
our most unique and design friendly showroom in midtown Manhattan to rave reviews.
We are known in the industry for having excellent customer service, quality in stock
products as well as competitive pricing. We continuously provide our customers with
the newest products and the latest industry information. Currently, we are proud to
announce the Launch of Swarovski's latest trend collection for Fall/Winter
2010-2011 featuring the new colors: Greige, Cyclamen Opal and Metallic Lt Gold.
I am proud and pleased to be the 3rd generation of my family in the business. Along
with my father, I will work to maintain and enhance even further the high quality of
service and range of products that we have become known for, as one of the leading bead and
rhinestone distributors in the world.
