Some people watch the Superbowl for the game. Others watch it for the commercials. At Har-Man we watch it for the Half Time show! We do this because we know that not only will the performances be amazing, but the costumes will most likely be blinged out and off the charts amazing. Superbowl XLIX with Katy Perry as the main Half Time entertainment (oh, and um the Patriots and the Seahawks) didn’t disappoint.
Katy Perry
had four costume changes, all designed be Jeremy Scott, the creative director
for Moschino. You can visit Style.com
for an in depth interview with Jeremy Scott about his costumes for Katy Perry.
To start her performance, Katy came out on a mechanical lion while singing her hit song “Roar”. She was also wearing custom LaDuca professional dance booties which were covered in 12,600 Swarovski rhinestones.
Erin Lareau, stylist and Swarovski crystallizer
to the stars was responsible for the design behind the Swarovski encrusted
rhinestone booties. She told Pret-a-Reporter,
“I used 12,000 tiny Swarovski crystals in clear on the top and outsides of the
heels and a Swarovski color called Black Diamond Aurora Borealis on the inside
of the heel. I made sure the crystals
were extremely tiny, using a blend of 3mm, 5mm, 7mm, 9mm, 10mm, and 12mm sizes
for the encrusted look.”
For her “Teenage Dream” performance her outfit featured a beach ball inspired costume, with the bustier outlined with Swarovski crystals.
Then, guest
performer Missy Elliot joined her and Katy changed into a Swarovski blinged out
jersey.
Did you
happen to notice Katy Perry’s microphones?
Yup! Encrusted with Swarovski
crystals by Erin Lareau.
The Half Time
show at Superbowl 49 this year did not disappoint. We can hardly wait to see how Swarovski
rhinestones will be used to create the Golden Anniversary costumes of Superbowl
50!
